I am someone who loves the synchronicity of seeing 10:10, 11:11… I see them on my car clock, a clock or a dial and call them out excitedly to whoever cares to listen.
Yes, I am hopelessly optimistic like that.
A few years back, my friend P and I were deployed to a regional area and spent a lot of time in the car together, travelling between locations.
Of course, that meant a lot of talking, listening to our favourite songs and sharing stories.
The roads were never-ending, takeaway coffees were few and far between, and we barely had phone reception or radio signals. So obviously, we had to entertain each other… and become besties!
Now, P is a good listener, but this is where I must warn you, dear reader: she also has the kind of memory that makes oversharing a very bad idea.
And she will not miss an opportunity to tease you about something silly you’ve shared.
Anyway, I saw 10:10 on the car clock and yelled out…
“10:10!! Angel numbers!”
P kept driving, looking straight ahead. Deadpan face. 😳
That reminded me of someone I once knew – a friend who always called at 10:10. Only at 10:10 PM.
And if you didn’t answer, they would get upset, sulk and make you feel terrible.
The friendship was toxic and, thankfully, a few of us were eventually able to get away from it. Not very easily, either… but thank heavens for not-so-small mercies.
And my oversharing self shared this story with my dearest P…

And of course, we dissected the story and wondered about the friend’s thought process in detail!
We had hours to kill on country roads and only each other for company… if you know what I mean. 😃
It’s been a while since that trip and all the stories shared in the car, but every time P accidentally spots 10:10 on the clock, she makes it a point to let me know…
Some people see 10:10 and make a wish.
P sees 10:10 and remembers…
And then REMINDS me of something I wish I’d never told her! 😂
